Industrial radiography and tomography based on scanning linear scintillator array
نویسنده
چکیده
We have developed an industrial CT and Digital Radiography system (CT/DR) for NDT at the USC (Spain). A 510 mm long detector array of 640 detection elements with sub-millimetre spacing (0.8 mm), together with a 50kV mini-focus tube have been integrated in a 3-axis positioning system of flexible configuration. Accurate characterization of geometrical parameters and system commissioning has been performed. System calibration algorithm has been implemented to correct for channel response variations. Other artifact sources, like beam hardening and scatter radiation, have been experimentally optimized. System capability to perform CT and DR scans has been demonstrated and several images of phantoms and weldings are shown.

Refinement of Imaging Processing of Scatter Correction and Beam Hardening Tools for Industrial Radiography and Cone Beam CT
Digital detector arrays are used for industrial radiography and cone beam CT. Scattering and beam hardening artifacts reduce the achievable contrast sensitivity and can severely limit the size of the part to be scanned or require large amounts of shielding to block scatter outside the inspection area of interest. Varian’s image processing toolkit contains a set of dll’s that can easily be deplo...
متن کاملA statistical correction method for minimization of systemic artefact in a continuous-rotate X-ray based industrial CT system
The use of a linear detector array (LDA) in X-ray computed tomography (CT) imaging is well established. Generally the CT system using an LDA operates in a fan-beam configuration. In a non-medical tomography set-up, the X-ray source and detectors are stationary and the object is rotated for scanning. Equi-spaced angular projections over a complete 360 object rotation are required for CT image re...
متن کاملAssessment of X-Ray Crosstalk in a Computed Tomography Scanner with Small Detector Elements Using Monte Carlo Method
Introduction: Crosstalk is a leakage of X-ray or light produced in a matrix of X-ray detectors or array of photodiodes in one element to other elements affecting on image contrast and spatial resolution. In this study, we assessed X-ray crosstalk in a computed tomography (CT) scanner with small detector elements to estimate the effect of various parameters such as X-ray tube voltage, detector e...
متن کاملدقت رادیوگرافی پانورامیک و توموگرافی خطی در تعیین محل کانال مندیبولار
Background and Aim: Accurate bone measurements are essential to determine the optimal size and length of dental implants. The magnification factor of radiographic images may vary with the imaging technique used. The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy of linear tomography and panoramic radiography in vertical measurements, as well as the accuracy of linear tomography in mandibular...
متن کاملFemtosecond laser ablation of cadmium tungstate for scintillator arrays
Ultrafast pulsed laser ablation has been investigated as a technique to machine CdWO4 single crystal scintillator and segment it into small blocks with the aim of fabricating a 2D high energy X-ray imaging array. Cadmium tungstate (CdWO4) is a brittle transparent scintillator used for the detection of high energy X-rays and γ-rays. A 6 W Yb:KGW Pharos-SP pulsed laser of wavelength 1028 nmwas us...
